1.0 Background

The Sustainable Flight Demonstration (SFD) / X-66A project is a partnership between NASA and Boeing formed under a Funded Space Act Agreement (FSAA) as of January 2023. The scope of the SFD Project is the development and flight test of a multi-technology flight demonstrator that enables the next generation single aisle commercial transport to meet global and NASA sustainable aviation goals and objectives. The project is responsive to Strategic Thrust 3, Ultra-Efficient Subsonic Transports Epoch 2, in the ARMD Strategic Implementation Plan and is one of a suites of projects contributing to the ARMD subsonic transport strategy. The ARMD subsonic transport strategy is constructed to align with an identified recapitalization opportunity for single aisle configurations in the early 2030’s. This opportunity requires a FY2028 first flight goal of the subsonic demonstrator.

NASA will contribute at all levels of the SFD/X-66A project, which includes and is not limited to, flight operations. This includes providing knowledgeable and capable aircrew. NASA aircrew must acquire specific training on the baseline MD-90 aircraft, which is the airframe that will be modified into the

SFD/X-66A.

2.0 Objectives

The objective of this SOW is to establish the purchase request for specific training for NASA aircrew in support of the Sustainable Flight Demonstrator X-66A Funded Space Ace Agreement. NASA aircrew and engineers will need to receive training on the baseline MD-90 aircraft (The MD-90 is the baseline airframe from which will be modified into the SFD X-66A). This statement of work outlines the first round of necessary training for NASA personnel for this airframe.

Up to 2x NASA aircrew (designated research test pilots) and 1x flight test engineer will attend. The outcome of this training is FAA type certification for the MD-90 airframe for the pilots, and both general and specific engineering knowledge for the flight test engineer.

Reference Delta Professional Services Training Agreement (Contract No.: 0119313).

3.0 Requirements

Under this agreement, Delta Professional Services (DPS) shall provide instructor led training services for the MD88 airframe in FAA approved facilities, using DPS and NASA approved curriculum.
