About this file
This statement of work outlines requirements for developing a multicopter platform to demonstrate autonomous navigation in a space habitat. The contractor shall develop a platform capable of utilizing a Smart Video Guidance Sensor for navigation between rooms of a mockup habitat, fitting through doorways of specific dimensions, and mounting tracking dots for a VICON system. The platform must fly autonomously for 10 minutes on a single battery charge and incorporate a flight computer compatible with MATLAB/Simulink. The contractor shall deliver components lists, 20 guidance sensors, 3 completed platforms, and 24 hours of training. Milestones include sensor integration, navigation with multiple targets, and platform delivery. The work will take place in Melbourne, Florida over one year with potential extensions. This supports the NASA solicitation for a SVGS and Lunar Habitat multicopter platform project.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements As part of an awarded Tech Excellence proposal, MSFC Engineering Department is procuring a new capability for the center by developing and deliver multicopter platforms to demonstrate autonomous navigation in a space habitat by a robot.
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
The contractor shall develop a platform capable of the following tasks:
• Utilize Smart Video Guidance Sensor (SVGS) as a key component for the navigation system (this does not preclude utilizing other systems on top of SVGS)
• Location determination in a multi-room mockup using multiple SVGS beacons
• Translate through a doorway in 29 inches wide and 78 inches tall
• Mount four tracking dots compatible with VICON tracking system
• Fly for at least 10 minutes on a fully charged battery
• Route programmable capability for autonomous operations
• Feature a flight computer compatible with MATLAB/Simulink autocoding
• Have a propeller guard for safeguarding equipment in flight and protect personnel
• Have a minimum control bandwidth of 3 Hz
• Have landing legs to land on a flat surface The contractor shall deliver the following items:
• List of all components in the manufacture of the platform o No components on the list shall be used manufactured from Russia and China in accordance with Executive Order 13981
• 20 different SVGS targets
• Three platforms meeting the tasks above
• Providing 24 hours of training for EV40 on platform operations
• Platform shall be a sUAS multicopter, capable of 6 DoF flight
• Monthly status meetings with parties at MSFC unless both parties agree to skip
• Milestone reviews according to schedule listed in Appendix A
• Items in turnover table in Appendix B The contractor shall have the following experiences:
• Previous experience with integrating SVGS with multicopters
• Previous experience with connecting SVGS with Astrobee and flying demonstration maneuvers with Astrobee and SVGS.
3. Place of Performance Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL
4. Period of Performance The period of performance shall be contract award plus one year with the possibility of no-cost extensions if required.
