About this file

This document outlines requirements for equipment to finalize the integration of a Hybrid-electric Integration, Validation, and Experimentation (HIVE) facility. The Army Research Laboratory requires a load absorbing dual-ended AC dynamometer with specified torque and power capabilities, a two-input one-output combining gearbox, constant velocity shafts, shaft guards, a mounting weldment, a non-regenerative variable frequency drive, sensors, and installation and integration of all equipment. Relevant details include minimum torque and power specs, gear ratios, shaft speeds, connection requirements, and interfaces to existing government furnished equipment. Power Test, Inc is identified as the only company capable of meeting requirements.

· The gearbox shall have output shaft rated for 540 PPF continuous torque.

· The gearbox shall have temperature measurement on the high speed bearings

· The gearbox shall have a separate oil lubrication system that can be monitored and controlled by the user

3. Constant-Velocity (CV) Shafts:

· CV shafts shall be used between the input Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) AC dynamometer, Unit Under Test (UUT), and the combining gearbox.

· The CV shafts shall be rated for 300 PPF up to 12,000 RPM

· Zero torsional bearing joints shall be used

· Maximum of 5 degrees of parallel offset operation shall be allowed

4. Heavy-Duty Shaft Guards:

· Heavy-Duty shaft guards shall be included where rotting shafts are present.

5. Heavy-duty sub-base weldment for dynamometer and gearbox mounting.

· The weldment shall have T-Slot mounting so that it can be mounted on an alignment baseplate.

· The weldment shall have mounting holes that will allow for bolting, connections and alignment of the aforementioned dynamometer, torque transducers, combining gearbox, shaft guards and sensors and sensor cables.

· The weldment shall be designed to have the minimum footprint possible.

6. Non-regenerative- Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) controlled VFD
