About this file

Rio Hondo HVAC Replacement Project

This is a Scope of Work document for the Rio Hondo HVAC Replacement Project in California. The project involves the complete removal of an existing variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heating and cooling system and installation of new owner-furnished individual split-system heat pump units. The scope encompasses ten buildings designated as A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, K, and T. The existing VRF system will be replaced with dedicated 5-ton air source split heat pump units to address operational and performance deficiencies while improving system reliability, maintainability, and thermal control capabilities.

The project represents a comprehensive HVAC system modernization undertaken to resolve persistent issues with the current VRF infrastructure. The specification requires installation of owner-supplied equipment, indicating that the contractor's responsibilities focus on demolition of existing systems and installation of the replacement heat pump units. This retrofit approach allows for improved individual building zone control and simplified maintenance procedures compared to the integrated VRF system being replaced.
