QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. In the RFQ it states LED street lights from 110-160W, I would like to know if you have a preference of wattage as these gap could mean a substantial difference on our pricing.
Every lighting manufacturer produces different wattages of LED’s and all have varying lumens per watt. We are replacing existing 250 Watt HPS fixtures on older 24’ poles. Some companies say their 100 Watt LED’s are sufficient, while others say a 160 Watt Led is sufficient. That is why it is worded that way in the RFQ.
2. Is there a requested lumen output? If you have a desired lumen output that is reasonable between 110-160W than you no longer need to worry about the wattage (or questions 1) since the fixture must meet the minimum lumen requirements.
A typical 250W HPS produces 29,000 lumens. So the quoted fixtures must exceed this amount of lumens. Again, there is no set formula for a true HPS – LED ratio, so all manufacturers lumen output will vary. That is why we spec’d it to be between 110-160 Watts to exceed the lumen output of a 250W HPS.
3. Is there part number and manufacture name of fixture and light pole requirement?
No, there is not a specific part number or manufacture name required, AS long as the quoted lights and poles meet the specifications listed.
