Text version

1.Maryland Department of Environment has authorized treatment of Regulated Medical Waste with Incineration and Autoclave. The description does not specifically state which treatment method is needed so would autoclave treatment then incineration suffice for the Government? We own and operate our own high volume medical waste treatment plant using autoclave treatment technology. http://www.dsd.state.md.us/comar/comarhtml/10/10.06.06.04.htm
A:Incineration.
2.What is the process outlined when my driver would arrive for a typical pickup? Where does he park, enter and receive/pickup the waste?

A: You would pull up to the loading dock and use the dock phone and press a ‘speed dial’ number, provided to the successful offeror. You will be greeted by phone, the doors will be opened to the waste room. You would need to physically come into the building and would be escorted by staff at all times. It isn’t far from the loading dock, but you would remove the boxes from the room, exit to the dock, and load your truck. In the onset of the Purchase Order, you would need, to establish a supply of boxes and bags in our facility. Then, with each pickup, you must leave as many new boxes & bags as you take, but you do not need to assemble them (they generally come flat). This supply of boxes must be labeled when they come to our facility.

3. What has been the typical weight of the 55 gallon drums when packaged?

A: We are uncertain. We don’t weigh them.

4. Would the government be responsible for properly packaging all waste prior to our arrival for pickup?

A: Yes. They are packaged, the bags are zip-tied inside, and the boxes are taped shut.

The deadline for questions concerning this solicitation is by Friday September 11, 2020; 4:30( EST). Thanks for your time.
