Scope of Work - FibroScan at Whiteriver

Fibroscan is an ultrasound based methodology that measures elasticity of the liver. As such it can provide a non-invasive, accurate measure of the extent of liver cirrhosis. The measurement and utility is unrelated to the cause, whether it is Hepatitis B or C, alcohol related, or non-alcohol fatty liver disease.

The requested device utilizes Vibration Controlled Transient Elastography (VCTE™) & Controlled Attenuation Parameter (CAP) to aid in the clinical management of patients with liver disease. Liver elastography, mechanically induced shear wave (e.g. vibration), without imaging, with interpretation and report.

The test can be performed at the point of care by any health care provider with minimal training. Unlike conventional ultrasound where a person must be able to adequately interpret the images obtained, with FibroScan, the machine interprets the elasticity of the liver and automatically calculates a score which corresponds to the degree of cirrhosis. The change over time can be used to help educate and guide patients, as well as to make decisions on when a patient should be considered for transplant evaluation, if appropriate.

We anticipate having the machine in our Internal Medicine specialty clinic for evaluation of patients referred for liver disease management.

The Premium Service Agreement (Maintenance/Servie) is being included to ensure the equipment remains operational during the initial year and for four additional years. The Premium Service Agreement includes replacement equipment during any prolonged service period to assure minimal disruption in patient care.
