3. Install Panduit according to the specifications in the NEMA BOX – Build Specifications drawing all cut edges must be finished. No fuzzy plastic edges or none smooth surfaces.

4. Install Din Rail according to the specifications in the NEMA BOX – Build Specifications drawing all burs and unfinished edges must be grinded down to a finished edge.

5. Install Distribution Blocks according to the specifications in the NEMA BOX – Build Specifications drawing.

6. Install Datalogger, Solar Regulator and Circuit Protection according to the specifications in the

NEMA BOX – Build Specifications drawing.

7. Wire backplate according to wire diagram according to the NEMA BOX – Inner Panel Wire

Diagram.

8. Drill holes on bottom of NEMA box According to NEMA BOX – Bottom NEMA Layout.

9. Remove sharp edges from cut holes.

10. Drill holes into multi holed cable glands according to NEMA BOX – Cable Gland Hole Size Guide

11. Install multi holed cable glands into bottom of NEMA box according to the NEMA BOX – Bottom

NEMA Specifications.

12. Install backplate into NEMA box using hardware that came inside NEMA box. Lower left stud will first have a 3/8” external tooth lock washer and then the 3/8” flat washer and nut that are included with the NEMA box hardware. The external toothed lock washer will provide grounding for the backplate. This is very important that this goes on first and then pressed into the backplate by the backplate mounting hardware.

13. Connect all grounding cables onto the NEMA box ground studs. There will be three ground lugs connecting onto the NEMA chassis ground stud. There will need to be a ¼” external tooth lock washer placed between each ground lug. For a total of two external tooth lock washers. Use the hardware that comes inside the NEMA box. There are two nuts that have external tooth lock washers attached to the nuts. Use these nuts to secure the ground lugs onto the ground studs.

14. Complete wind sensor connector upgrade by completing the steps in the Wind Sensor Connector Manual

Tools Needed

• #2 Phillips Screwdriver

• Wire Strippers for a 24 AWG Wire

• Souriau-Sunbank Shandles with a S20RCM Die Head

• Adjustable Wrench

• Small Electronics Flat Head Screwdriver

• Souriau-Sunbank RX20D44 Pin Extraction Tool (not shown but comes in handy when pin is inserted into wrong hole)

Step 1: Open black rectangular box at base of sensor by unscrewing all four screws until they release from screw holes but have not been completely removed from face plate. Loosen glands and disconnect wires from terminal block and remove cable from box on sensor.

Step 2: Measure and cut the disconnected cable so that cable end that was just removed from sensor housing is 76cm long. It is very important that all cables are this long! Set aside the larger coil for later use.

https://www.alliedelec.com/product/souriau-sunbank-by-eaton/shandles/70241681/?keyword=shandles https://www.alliedelec.com/product/souriau-sunbank-by-eaton/s20rcm/70241683/ https://www.alliedelec.com/product/souriau-sunbank-by-eaton/rx20d44/70129866/?keyword=RX20D44

Step 3: Label 76cm long cable with a white heat shrink label 5 inches from cut end. White heat shrink label must contain the following information:

Manufacturer and Model number of sensor

Serial number of the sensor preceded with WM example: WM123456

Code 126 barcode of the sensors serial number preceded by WM

Step 4: Locate and open connector bag with part number UTS1-JC106P, shown below.

Step 5: Unscrew endcap of the cable gland. Remove rubber gasket and replace it with gasket for smaller diameter cable and screw endcap back on loosely.

Step 6: Slide the bottom half of the connector onto the fresh cut end of the 76cm cable.

Step 7: Strip 4cm of the outer jacket off the fresh cut end of the cable, as shown below.

Step 8: Remove foil wrapper off each pair of wires and cut the yellow wire off at the black jacket.

Step 9: Strip each of the remaining wires back 5mm. These wires are all 24 AWG.

Step 10: Locate pin part number RM20W3K and remove six pins.

Step 11: Place pin in the left 24-26 AWG crimping location and make sure it is fully seated. Place stripped wired end into pin ensuring that wire is fully inserted into pin and that the wire jacket is in the bell housing. Squeeze crip handles until crimper releases and pin can be removed. Complete this step for all wires.

Step 12: The head of the connector has letters on the back that indicate pin positions. Place pins into these holes based on the wire color wiring diagram below.

A – Red

B – Black

C – White

D – Green

E – Blue

F – Drain/Bare

Step 13: Make sure cable side cap is loose so that connector body rotates around the cable. Then screw the connector head onto the main connector body and make sure it is tight. Once this is complete tighten the cable side cap so that connector is liquid tight.

Step 14: Reconnect cable to wind sensor by reinserting cable end that was removed through the cable gland on the sensor housing. Reconnect the wires to the terminal block according to the following wiring diagram.

WS SIG – RED

WD EXC – BLUE

WD SIG – GREEN

WD REF – WHITE

WS REF – BLACK

EARTH GROUND – CLEAR

Tighten gland to hand tight and then one full rotation with a wrench.

Step 15: Locate and open connector bag with part number UTS6-JC106S, shown below.

Step 16: While using the large coil of cable left over from step 2, complete Steps 5 through 9 with this connector (strip off black jacket and foil). Do not skip ahead and select pins!

Step 17: Locate pin part number RC20W3K and remove six pins.

Step 18: Complete steps 11 and 13.

Step 19: Connect both connectors together and ensure that all connector parts are screwed tight.

Step 20: Check continuity of all the wires by using a multimeter in continuity mode. Check each wire color on both ends of the cable. All wires MUST have continuity from the sensor to the end of the cable.

Step 21: Label sensor body with and asset label that looks like the picture below.

Sensor label above was created with a P-touch model PT-D610BT

When sensor label is attached to sensor it should look like this photo when the sensor is back in its box, as shown below.

Step 23: Label outside of box with a label from step 22 as well as a label that says CONNECTOR.
