Drug Enforcement Administration
Request for Information
Armoring of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE)
Background
In 2018, the Drug Enforcem ent Administration (DEA) awarded a contract to have some Toyota Land Cruisers procured and armored for overseas usage. They were procured by the awarded contractor through a Distributor in Oman Jordan and brought into the United States under a Temporary Import Bond (TIB). The contract was ultimately terminated for reasons out of DEA's control and the vehicles were never armored.
Request for Information
DEA has physical custody of twenty four (24) 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Series and is seeking information on companies capable and authorized to accept them as GFE and armor them to current Department of State Level C Specifications (fuel tanks were already up fitted by prior contractor) with the understanding that the original TIB expired as of 12/8/2019, if that has any bearing.
The vehicles are of Japan origin, they are not North American models and do not meet U.S.
Emissions standards. The governments' intent after armoring would be to export them out of the country through another contract vehicle with the U.S. Despatch Agency.
