About this file

This document is a Preliminary Environmental Survey (PES) for a proposed project to repair the lightning protection system at Building 1176 at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska. The project involves renovating, modernizing, and repairing the existing lightning protection system to bring it into compliance with applicable codes and regulations. This will include designing and constructing a functional grounding ring around the building, repairing and replacing existing cabling and rods, and trenching to install and connect grounding rods. The PES determines that the project qualifies for two Categorical Exclusions under the National Environmental Policy Act and does not require further environmental analysis. However, it notes several environmental requirements that must be followed, such as complying with the base's Fugitive Dust Emission Plan during construction and addressing potential lead and asbestos during work on existing structures. Relevant agencies involved include the 354th Civil Engineer Squadron and 168th Civil Engineer Operations Squadron.

The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation from the Department of the Army National Guard to repair the lightning protection system at Building 1176 at Eielson Air Force Base per the requirements in the attached documentation.
