George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center VA Salt Lake City Health Care System 500 Foothill Drive Salt Lake City, UT 84148
Statement of Work for Supplying and installing Window Solar Shades in:
B.1 Ground & 1st Floors B.16 Ground, 1st, 2nd Floors B.14 Basement, Ground, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Floors B.4 1st Floor
I. Background:
The VA Salt Lake City Healthcare System (hereinafter the “Agency”) has a healthcare facility window solar shade requirement. It is essential that window solar shades required in this SOW be designed, delivered, staged/moved, and installed in a timely manner for better patient satisfaction. The areas are active patient rooms and specialty clinic rooms. These are replacement blinds, as such removal of the existing window treatments will also be required.
II. Purpose of Project:
To provide patient privacy, reduce solar heat gain, and provide reasonable accommodations to staff/volunteers the agency needs to replace existing window treatments with dual solar shades black out and sheer solar) in existing clinics, offices, conference rooms in B.1 Ground & 1st Floors, B.16 Ground, 1st & 2nd Floors, B.14 Basement, Ground, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Floors and B.4 1st floor. Proper window treatments are one of the many necessary items to help fulfill the Mission, Vision, Core Values and Goals of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs to care, serve and honor America’s veterans in a world-class environment with services they have earned, adhering to the highest standards of compassion, commitment, excellence, professionalism, integrity, accountability, and stewardship.
III. Statement of Work:
This project shall consist of field verification of all window shade dimensions, ordering, receiving, delivery, assembly and installation of all the window solar shades required for this project. Awarded vendor shall include removal of existing window treatments and removal of all related shipping debris and installation cleanup associated with the installation of window solar shades. The vendor shall work in tight coordination of Agency Interior Designers and Head Nurses to access the rooms. There may be times when access to a particular room may take a day or two depending on the condition of the Veteran in the room.
The quantities and locations of each window solar shade shall be shown on attachment “Bid Sheets ”—note the spreadsheet has 11 + Summary worksheets to be filled out. NOTE: All sizes, mounting application, and finishes must be field verified before order is placed. THE SIZES PROVIDED ARE APPROXIMATE SIZES FOR BIDDING PURPOSES ONLY.
NOTE: The windows will have a dual solar shade system. The Following Fabrics are for all areas OTHER THAN B.16:
· A black out blind (fabric Draper SunBloc Series SB9000 (Tripak II) or EQUAL) and a regular solar shade (Sheerweave SW2420 3% open Oyster/Beige) mounted in front/stacked of the blackout blind.
· B.16 Fabrics are Draper SunBloc Series SB9000 (Tripak II) color Oyster or EQUAL, and a regular solar shade--fabric Phifer Sheerweave Style SW2500 1% open Charcoal/Alpaca or EQUAL to match existing ones previously installed in multiple offices.
All products as specified or equal or better. If the vendor proposes an “or equal” product, the product must meet the technical specification or better AND the aesthetic aspects of colors and design must be compatible. The Agency Interior Designers have spent hours meticulously coordinating architectural finishes i.e. paint, carpet, luxury vinyl tile, mosaic tile, plastic laminates, solid surface material, rubber base, furniture finishes, fabrics, artwork, signage, etc. As a result the “or equal” must be approved by Agency Interior Designers—Chris Hill, Chrise Eddy, Julie Barfuss. In no way will an “or equal” be allowed to cause a domino effect of modifying the other finishes. Thus it is critical to provide an aesthetically acceptable product.
Architectural Specification 12 24 00 as follows:
