ATTACHMENT I - STATEMENT OF WORK
SERVICE AGREEMENT FOR MOLECULAR DEVICES FLIPR TETRA
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SCIENCES
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NORTH CAROLINA
1. Introduction and Background: The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), located in the
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina is one of the 27 Institutes and Centers composing the National Institutes of
Health. The mission of NIEHS is dedicated to reducing the burden of diseases and dysfunctions associated with the environment. This mission is accomplished by conducting basic and applied research into the effects of environmental exposures on biological systems and human health, on the identification of susceptible human sub populations and on the interaction between the environment, genetics and age. The NIEHS has ONE (1)
Government-owned pieces of Molecular Devices Flipr Tetra that is used to support the intramural research program. The instrument to be covered by this contract has been under continuous maintenance following the expiration of its respective warranty. The instrument is currently at an acceptable level of upkeep to the
Government. The Calcium Signaling in Health & Disease Group is a research laboratory that studies how aberrant calcium signals may contribute to disease in humans, particularly allergies and asthma. The FLIPR-Tetra is a camera based fluorescence imaging plate reader that is able to perform simultaneous fluorescence-based measurements on living cells contained in 96- or 384-well plate formats. It also equipped with robotic control of fluidics so that it can add up to three compound additions simultaneously in all 96- or 384-wells. The ability to monitor and manipulate living cells in 96- and 384-multiwell plates with FLIPR-Tetra provides a critical ‘high-throughput’ capability in order to perform rapid and detailed pharmacological characterization of biological systems, and also the screening of large ‘pharmaceutical compound’ collections for drug discovery.
2. Objective: The Contractor shall provide qualified personnel to perform a comprehensive preventative maintenance plan including inspection, preventive maintenance, repair service, and software updates/maintenance as required by the FMIC at the NIEHS, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
3. General Requirements: The contractor shall furnish all necessary services, parts, labor, software upgrades, travel, and qualified technical personnel who are factory trained to work on Molecular Devices FLIPR Tetra
