About this file

This solicitation calls for proposals to develop independently controllable cooling plate technologies and enabling technologies to reduce size, weight and power requirements for centralized cooling systems applicable to future vertical lift aircraft. Offerors should progress component technologies from TRL 2/3 to 4/5 through design, fabrication and testing with a period of performance up to 42 months. The total available funding is approximately $2.6 million to be awarded through multiple awards. Proposals are due by June 29th, 2020 and award is possible starting in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2020. Offerors must demonstrate the ability to integrate proposed components into a power and thermal management system for future vertical lift rotorcraft.

STATEMENT OF RESEARCH EFFORT

The objective of PTM-CD is to advance the state of the art in thermal control of subsystems and mission equipment on board Army aircraft. Goals for the program include the maturation of independently controlled cold plates applicable to mission equipment, electronics, and high heat flux devices. Component technologies which increase the capabilities of any cooling system used for aircraft cooling and/or enabling the cooling plates are included in the development goals. A focus on reductions in the size, weight, and power impact of the thermal management system(s) on the aircraft will be pursued. The PTM-CD program will consist of design, fabrication, and testing of component technologies to increase the TRLs of the component(s) from 2/3 to 4/5.
