Site Visit Questions – RC0008-12

1. What tools will not be allowed? All types of tools needed to complete this job should be allowed within the institution. However, should something come up, we will work with the contractor at that time to make different arrangements.

2. Meals while on site? The contractors can bring a lunch to the work site and we will ensure there is an area for them to consume their meal. However, if we leave the work site, then everyone will be required to leave and all tools and equipment will have to be accounted for and secured prior to leaving. We do have a staff dining room, where meals can be purchased as well, however, if one goes, they all go.

3. Electrical – De- energize must be completed by the contractor. It is your responsibility to bring in a certified electrician to perform both the shut off and start up of the electrical areas.

4. The contractor will not be required to move any of the equipment or supplies located in any of the work areas.

5. Are drawings available for the duct work in the Business Office area (Plenum) ? Yes, and will be sent upon request in writing to the Contracting Officer.

6. Will there be a need for the contractor to provide temporary heating and cooling while they are cleaning the areas? No, only would need to supply that if your employees require it.

7. Is the internal duck work been cleaned in the ADP area? Yes, there is no need for this area to be cleaned.

8. Are there electrical drawings available? We are not sure they are at this time, but are working on trying to get those.

9. Testing – who will be responsible for the testing of the areas to ensure they meet the required levels? UNICOR will hire an independent contractor to come in and perform the testing. Each area will be tested as it is being completed.

10. Please provide specifications for new ceiling tile located in the data processing area and for the office area associated with the plenum removal. In the ADP area, replace them with like tiles. Current tiles are 24” x 24” x 5/8” in size, fire resistant, square, lay-in, tile, medium texture, good acoustical performance. No asbestos. In the plenum area, it has been left to the contractor to determine how they want to replace this ceiling, all we have indicated is that it has to be replaced and if differently than it is currently, then the contractor will have to provide the plans and drawings to be approved by the Bureau of Prisons prior to work beginning.

11. Who will be responsible for disposition of remediation derived waste? SOW is clear—CONTRACTOR is responsible for this.

12. Please provide a list of tools requiring "direct supervision". All tools and equipment which enter the institution with the contractor will be required to stay in the contractors’ possession, unless they are stored within the tool room provided during the course of this contract.

13. Please provide lab data for sample analysis. These will be provided upon written request to the Contracting Officer.

14. Will OWNER segregate and drain fire sprinkler lines prior to remedial activities in the UNICOR Building? Yes.

15. Will Unicor provide access for non-routine hours and pay premium time for electrical work? Should we require the contractor to work non-routine hours then pay differential will be considered. However, we do not anticipate any non-routine hours at this time. We are not authorizing premium time for electrical work at this time.

16. Please provide information pertaining to the limits of decontamination of the bathroom vent fan system. Per SOW item 00001(c), flexible ductwork (both incoming and exhaust) for the inmate restroom is to be replaced. Regarding the rooftop exhaust, the portion of the exhaust above the louvers at roof level, including the fan, need to be cleaned.

17. Will the bus duct system in the UNICOR data processing and recycling factory require remediation? What is the extent (will the cover require removal or is the exterior the primary concern? Only the exterior of the bus duct system above the suspended ceiling in the ADP factory needs to be cleaned. In the former recycling factory, only the interior of the (approx 6-9?) electrical boxes attached to the bus duct system need to be cleaned.

18. Please provide electrical drawings for FCI factory and FCL factory. These will be provided upon written request to the Contracting Officer.
