About this file

This document is Questions and Answers #1 for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Invitation to Bid (ITB) DOT-ITB-26-5002-OMC for District Five Supplemental Routine Maintenance-Oviedo Operations. The Q&A addresses specific questions about vehicle and equipment requirements, specifically regarding the usage of dump trucks and concrete mixers for the maintenance contract. The document provides clarification that equipment usage will be as-needed, with the dump truck likely being used more frequently, and work will be scheduled in advance and coordinated with the contractor.

The Q&A document demonstrates FDOT's decision to maintain the original contract language despite a suggestion to modify the equipment provisions, citing past success with the current contract structure. The response indicates that while precise usage of the concrete mixer is unknown, the department will work collaboratively with the contractor to ensure equipment availability. The document is part of the procurement process for a maintenance service contract covering Seminole and Orange Counties, with specific provisions for equipment provision and usage.

Questions and Answers #1

ADVERTISEMENT NUMBER: DOT-ITB-26-5002-OMC

DESCRIPTION: District Five Supplemental Routine Maintenance-Oviedo Operations

DATE: 06/25/2025

1. Section 7.1 Vehicle and Equipment. Dump Truck and Concrete Mixer. What is the expected usage of each? Everyday? As needed? If as needed, how many times per week on average may each be used? Also, if as needed, will work be scheduled in advance such that they can be made available via other means.

Answer: The expected usage is as-needed, although it is likely that the dump truck will be used often. The concrete mixer will be used as-need so the number of occurrences are unknown. The work will be scheduled in advance and coordinated with the Contractor.

2. Section 7.1 Vehicle and Equipment. If dump and/or the concrete mixer are as needed, with no estimate on usage, it is suggested the language to be revised as in the Deland Ops Supp Crew contract as follows:

The Contractor shall provide the following minimum equipment (either owned or rented) for each field crew: **Compensation will be based on the daily rental rates from the Blue Book for the dates the equipment is actually used. a. Dump Truck or trailer (1) - 5-to-7-yard capacity dump body b. Concrete mixer.

Answer: Given the past success with this Contract, it is decided to leave the Section verbiage as-is.
