About this file

This document is an AFMC Form 158 Packaging Requirements specification for a federal contract opportunity.

The packaging requirements apply to item number 2840013466272JU under Purchase Instrument Number FD20302600843-00, Version 1. All deliverables must comply with MIL-STD-2073-1 Revision E (Standard Practice for Military Packaging) and MIL-STD-129 Revision R (Standard Practice for Military Marking). The specification mandates that all wood packaging material (WPM)—including wooden pallets, skids, load boards, pallet collars, boxes, reels, dunnage, crates, frames, and cleats—must be constructed from debarked wood and heat-treated to a minimum of 56 degrees Celsius (133 degrees Fahrenheit) for at least 30 minutes. Certification and marking by an accredited agency recognized by the American Lumber Standards Committee (ALSC) is required, with reference to International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM No. 15) governing wood packaging material in international trade. This requirement addresses invasive species mitigation, specifically the pinewood nematode, for shipments destined worldwide through direct delivery or via Air Logistics Centers (ALC), Container Consolidation Points (CCP), or other military bases.

Shipping containers must be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129 and may include additional bar coding, unit serial numbers, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) names, or OEM model numbers as specified on the AFMC Form 158. The packaging specialist responsible for this requirement is Dalbert J. Cannady (406 SCMS / GULAA), contactable at 405-736-1830 or 336-1830. The specification was signed and dated 15 January 2026.
