About this file

This document is a justification and approval for other than full and open competition related to a contract awarded by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The contract was awarded to Cardinal Health, Inc. on March 16, 2021 for $284,904.52 to purchase Yescarta, a prescription drug used to treat adult patients with relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma. The justification cites an unusual and compelling urgency due to the need to provide prescribed medications to patients as required by their care plans without unacceptable delays. Limited market research found Cardinal Health to be the only authorized distributor of this drug, and that they would honor pricing under the Federal Supply Schedule from the manufacturer, Gilead Sciences.
