| DISTRIBUTION CONSTRUCTION UNITS - LINE CHANGES |
Wayne Collop: Wayne Collop:
| The general headings of Line Changes applies to the changing of existing lines or portions thereof from their existing phasing, wire size, and type to new phasing, wire size, and type and the removal of existing lines thereof and replacing with new lines in close proximity thereto. |
| The assembly units used for this project are defined by symbol and description which follow together with the applicable descriptions included under New Construction. Where the descriptions are not correct, sufficiently explicit, or when special units are not covered by Construction Drawings, descriptions have been provided by the Engineer in the respective section. |
| Work included in these sections shall be performed under the schedule as set forth below. | |
| Line Section | Hours and Days of Week When Lines Will be |
| (To Be Designated by Point to Point Description on Detail Map) | De-energized to Permit Line Changes |
The Old Moody Road Line Rebuild project will be consrtuced for the most part energized. Tie-ins to existing system distribution and services will require working on energized lines. Where the Contractor feels an outage is needed to tie into existing system distribution or services, the Contractor shall coordinate with the District. Every effort will be made to keep outages to a minimum. All affected customers shall be notified the day before any scheduled outages. Any phase wires not necessary to keep power on to customers may be de-energized, providing they are left in a state where they could be re-energized in the case of an emergency need.
All one-shot protection and switching will be preformed by District personnel and all line clearances will be issued by the same.
The Contractor will so plan and perform its work on the above lines that it will be possible for the District to safely re-energize all lines involved at the expiration of the time limits set up in the above work schedule to resume service to all consumers being served prior to de-energization. Prior to commencement of work each day on lines scheduled to be de-energized, the Contractor will notify the District in writing thereof, designating the line to be de-energized and upon receipt of such notice, the District will de-energized such lines. Upon completion of the scheduled work in such manor as the circumstances permit designating the lines to be re-energized and stating that such lines may be safely re-energized, upon receipt of such notice, the District will re-energize such lines.

| Section R -- Removal Assembly Units | |
| Section R: REMOVAL ASSEMBLY UNITS | |
| Removal assembly units cover the furnishing of all of the labor for the removal of existing units of construction from existing line, including disassembling into material items, packaging, and all labor and transportation costs for the disposal of unit assemblies and/or materials removed. | |
| Removal assembly units cover the furnishing of all of the labor for the removal of existing units of construction from existing line, including disassembling into material items, packaging, and all labor and transportation costs for the returning of all materials to the warehouse of the District in a orderly manner or transporting to the site of the project for reuse in the prosecution of this Contract as approved by the Engineer. | |
| The unit removal prices shall include labor and equipment required to dispose of the materials associated with the removal assembly unit. With the exception of oil filled equipment, any District materials removed shall become the property of the Contractor and shall be removed from the project. Upon approval of the Engineer, the Contractor shall make arrangement to dispose of removed and waste materials at no expense to the District. Oil filled equipment removed shall be reused or returned to the District Warehouse as directed by the Contract Documents. | |
| The unit removal prices shall include all material and labor required to reinstall in accordance with specifications any conductor temporarily detached. The Contractor will reinstall at his own expense any other units removed by him for his own convenience. | |
| The Contractor will be charged by the District for the full value of all materials removed under this section. Such charges will be placed against the Contractor as Units are removed and the value will be deducted from the total value of installed assembly units for determination of the work accomplished for purposes of monthly progress payments to the Contractor. Of the Materials to be removed from existing lines, certain materials will be reused in the construction of the Project. | |
| The Contractor will be allowed full credit for all material items, returned to the District which, in the opinion of the Engineer, were not damaged by the Contractor in removal and handling even though the material may not be reusable for reason of obsolescence or deterioration. Such credits shall be allowed the Contractor as materials are returned to the Districts warehouse and shall be added to the total value of installed assembly units for determination of the work accomplished for the purpose of monthly progress payments to the Contractor. | |
| The removal units are designated by the prefix R and followed by the assembly unit type of existing assembly unit to be removed. For example, RPT signifies the removal of a pole top unit. The following special notes apply to specific removal units:________. | |
| a. Poles. All poles of the same height regardless of pole class, are designated by the same unit. Thus an RP pole signifies the removal of a pole regardless of height and class. The Contractor is not required under this unit to remove from the pole any ground wire or pole numbering attached to the pole. This unit includes the refilling and tamping of holes in a workmanlike manner unless they are to be reused. Any backfill materials required for backfill shall be provided at the Contractor's expense and shall be considered incidental to the unit price. |
| b. Pole-Top Assemblies. The unit of removal of pole top assemblies designated by RPT includes, in addition to the removal of the assembly itself, any necessary handling, resagging and retying of conductors in those cases where an existing pole-top assembly will be removed and replaced by a new pole-top assembly and where any existing conductor is to be reused. The unit of removal of pole-top assemblies also includes any holding or handling of mainline or tap conductors, at tap, angles, and deadends where such is involved, and reinstalling of such conductor in accordance with the specification; for example, regardless of pole top type RPT will include the disconnection of the tap conductors , snubbing off the tap line at the nearest practical point and the reconnection and resagging of these tap conductors if necessary to the new tap assembly when installed. The new unit of construction if required, however will be specified in section N. |
| c. Conductor. The conductor removal unit covers the removal of 1,000 feet of conductor or cable and reeling or coiling it in a workmanlike manner in such a way that it can be disposed of by the Contractor. The Contractor will dispose of all jumpers, tie wire, armor rods connectors, and other conductor accessories removed. These items will not be returned to the District. The removal unit for conductor or cable in span feet is shown by the unit designation R(X)YY where "X" refers to the number of conductors in a span and "YY" refers to the type of conductor or cable. For example, R(4)6C designates removal of four conductors of #6 copper. The Case (unit of measure) designation "kft' signifies the removal unit of 1,000 foot span length of conductor type and quanity indicated by the Unit Number. |
| d. Guys & Anchors. The unit designation RG indicates the removal of all guys and their respective anchor regardless of length, type of attachment, or size of guy strand. Only anchor rods are to be removed by the Contractor with the anchor left in the ground. If the rod cannot be unscrewed, the end of the rod shall either be cut off or bent down so that the rod will be at least 18 inches below ground. Thus RG signifies the removal of any guy and its associated anchor. |
| e. Transformers. The unit for removal of transformers assembly units is specified for each type, and all sizes of transformers from 1 to 25 kVA within each group will be covered by the same unit. The unit is designated by the prefix (R) followed by the description of the unit to be removed; thus (R)G210B signifies the removal of two transformers banked together for any size of transformer from 1 to 25 kVA. |
| g. Secondary Units. The unit for removal of secondary assemblies includes, in addition to the removal of the assembly itself, all necessary handling such as untying, resagging, and retying of secondary conductor or cables where existing secondary conductor or cable is to be reused. |
| h. Service Unit. The unit for removal of service assemblies includes, in addition to the removal of the assembly itself, all necessary handling such as untying, resagging, and retying of secondary conductor or cables where existing service or cable is to be reused. |
| The following descriptions apply only to those removal units not sufficiently explicit. | | |

| Section T: TRANSFER ASSEMBLY UNITS | | |
| Transfer assembly units are pole-top assemblies that cover the furnishing of all labor and additional materials for the removal and reinstallation an existing assembly unit to a new pole, utilizing certain items of materials of the existing assembly unit. The unit prices shall include provide all incidental materials required to transfer the new unit. | |
| Any materials removed from the existing assembly units which are not required in the construction of the transfer assembly unit become the property of the Contractor and may, with the permission of the Engineer, be reused by the Contractor in the construction of other assembly units called for in the Construction Contract. | |
| Transfer assembly units are specified by unique code designated as indicated. For example, (T)PR1 signifies the transfer of existing tap conductor from an existing structure to the new structure. The Contractor takes possession of excess materials and with the permission of the Engineer may reuse there elsewhere in the construction of the Project. The Contractor will not be held accountable to the District for materials he so acquires. | |

The 15 Mile Road Line Relocation project will be consrtuced for the most part de-energized. However, tie-ins to existing system disrtibution and services will require working on energized lines. Where the Contractor feels an outage is need to tie into existing system distribution or services the Contractor shall coordinate with the District. Every effort will be made to keep outages to a minimum. All effected customers shall be notified the day before any scheduled outages. Any phase wires not necessary to keep power on to customers may be de-energized, providing they are left in a state where they could be re-energized in the case of an emergency need.
All one-shot protection and switching will be preformed by District personnel and all line clearances will be issued by the same.
The Contractor will so plan and perform its work on the above lines that it will be possible for the District to safely reenergize all lines involved at the expiration of the time limits set up in the above work schedule to resume service to all consumers being served prior to deenergization. Prior to commencement of work each day on lines scheduled to be deenergized, the Contractor will notify the District in writing thereof, designating the line to be deenergized and upon receipt of such notice, the District will deenergized such lines: Upon completion of the scheduled work in such manor as the circumstances permit designating the lines to be reenergized and stating that such lines may be safely reenergized and upon receipt of such notice, the District will reenergize such lines.
