About this file
This is a Presolicitation Synopsis from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) for MERSCOPE Gene Panels and Associated Unique Reagents. The non-competitive contract is intended to be awarded to Vizgen Inc. of Cambridge, MA, for proprietary reagents specifically designed for the MERSCOPE platform, which are essential for spatial transcriptomics research. The procurement is classified under NAICS code 334516, with a size standard of 1,000, and will be conducted using Simplified Acquisition Procedures with a threshold not exceeding $250,000.
The solicitation indicates that these reagents are exclusively manufactured by the original equipment manufacturer and are not available through third-party suppliers. The contract supports a collaborative research effort between NICHD and the National Institute on Aging (NIA), where NIA researchers will perform assays and bioinformatics analyses. Interested parties may submit capability statements by September 4, 2025, at 9:00 AM Eastern time, electronically to the Contracting Officer. The government reserves the right to determine whether to proceed on a non-competitive or competitive basis based on the responses received.

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Title: MERSCOPE Gene Panels and Associated Unique Reagents
2. Background Information: The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences intends to procure brand-name reagents specifically designed for use with the MERSCOPE™ platform, currently housed within the Computational Biology and Genomics Core. These proprietary reagents are essential for conducting spatial transcriptomics assays as part of ongoing collaborative research efforts between our laboratory and investigators at NIA.
Under this collaboration, NIA researchers will perform the assays and subsequent bioinformatics analyses. Our role includes the provision of tissue samples, gene panels, and associated reagents, all of which must be compatible with the MERSCOPE system.
These reagents are manufactured and distributed exclusively by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and are not available through any third-party suppliers. No alternate or generic products exist that meet the stringent compatibility and performance requirements of the MERSCOPE platform. Use of non-authorized reagents would compromise the integrity and reproducibility of the experimental data and may void manufacturer warranties or support agreements.
