About this file
This document is a Notice of Cancellation for Request For Proposal (RFP) 23-24-085 for a Regional Bus Service Feasibility Study issued by the City of Danville, Virginia. The RFP sought proposals from qualified firms to conduct a feasibility study for implementing commuter bus service from Danville to surrounding cities, including Lynchburg, Virginia, Martinsville, Virginia, and Greensboro, North Carolina. The study was required to evaluate the need for public transportation, develop service and organizational alternatives, and provide a recommended plan to address operational and capital requirements. Proposals were due by 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 16, 2024, and the study was to be completed by December 31, 2024 to allow for a capital grant application submission.
The feasibility study was to be financed exclusively by the City of Danville, and the study's findings were to be used to support a capital grant application to the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation. The RFP did not specify any set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that could respond, and it did not mention any existing incumbent vendors, contractors, infrastructure, or technology that required integration. The RFP also did not provide a specific award value or budget range for the feasibility study.
