Statement of Work
A. Background Information
The Investigators at the Autoimmunity and Functional Genomics Section (AFGS), Laboratory of Immunogenetics (LIG), NIAID are interested to analyze antibody specificities in human serum from malaria endemic areas using the autoantigen microarray service from UT Southwestern Medical Center.
B. Purpose And Objectives Of The Procurement
Our group requires a service for autoantigen microarray that we will use to analyze samples obtained in malaria endemic areas. The information will enhance our understanding the links between malaria and autoimmune diseases such as Lupus. We need to test over 100 different specificities of antibodies and the only provider for this service is at University of Texas Southwestern because his protein arrays follow the correct specifications. First, the system provided by Dr. Quan Li is optimized to detect both IgM and IgG antibodies in the same array. Second, Dr. Li uses pharmacological grade proteins that have been previously validated for autoantibody detection. 128 antigen targets have been selected because they are the most common autoantigens in rheumatology diseases. Dr. Li will also provide direct comparison of our malaria samples with samples he keeps from SLE patients.
C. Contractor Requirements
The contractor will provide autoantigen microarray super panel chips & service.
D. Government Responsibilities
The US Government shall provide 500 serum samples from malaria endemic areas.
E. Reporting Requirement And Deliverables
The contractor shall be paid in full at the commencement of the contract.
F. Program Management And Control Requirements
None.
G. Inspection And Acceptance Criteria
Hemanta Kole at AFGS/LIG will be in charge of requesting/approving all services.
