About this file

This document is a Requirements and Specifications for Helium 3 gas needed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Advanced Microwave Photonics Group. NIST requires 44 liters of 99.9AT% purity Helium 3 gas to commission dilution refrigerator cryostats for testing superconducting quantum circuits. The gas must be delivered in an appropriately sized cylinder. NIST is conducting market research to identify vendors capable of providing the required Helium 3 gas and meeting the Government's minimum specifications. This is not a solicitation, and no award will be made at this time. NIST will use the results of this sources-sought notice to determine whether to proceed with a sole-source or competitive procurement. Interested vendors should submit capability statements by 11:00 AM MT on June 17, 2024, including company information, product specifications, lead times, and other relevant details. The requirement is assigned a NAICS code of 325120 with a small business size standard of 1,200 employees.
