STATEMENT OF WORK
DT-705A RADIATED NOISE MITIGATION STUDY AND DESIGN CHANGE RECOMMENDATION
1.0 PURPOSE
This Statement of Work (SOW) outlines the tasks for performing an analysis and a recommendation for a DT-705A design change which will update the DT-705A so that it meets the radiated noise requirement (the current design does not meet it). The Government will supply three (3)
DT-705 sensor assemblies, a DT-705 cable, and a DT-513 hydrophone to
Teledyne RD, Inc. (Teledyne RDI) as government furnished property (GFP) in support of this effort. This upgrade is required for VA (SSN 774) platforms.
2.0 SCOPE
The work performed under this SOW is in support of NUWCDIVNPT Sensor and
SONAR Systems Department Fleet Sensors and Cables Engineering Branch
(Code 1535) for the Hull Sensors and Systems (HSS) Program.
3.0 APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
The following documents, of the issue in effect on the date of request for proposal, form a part of the SOW for this procurement to the extent stated herein. Additional specifications and standards applicable to this procurement are referenced in the Navy documents identified herein.
1. NAVSEA Drawing No. 53711-7615410 Rev E, Assembly, Top, DT-705 (Contains Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) 3711FE10016 and
6611FE10017)
2. Critical Item Product Specification (CIPS) for the DT-705A Sensor Assembly, Drawing No. 53711 -7333534G (Contains ECP 3611NE019)
4.0 DT-705A SENSOR ASSEMBLY NOISE MITIGATION STUDY OUTLINE
1. The contractor shall characterize the noise of un-modified DT-705A sensor assemblies and evaluate the root cause of the noise that the DT-
705A sensor assembly generates
2. The contractor shall evaluate conductivity cell construction and evaluate the effect that damping material has on the conductivity cell performance
3. The contractor shall evaluate methods to reduce vibration
i. The contractor shall evaluate acoustic damping materials
ii. The contractor shall investigate acoustic shielding
iii. The contractor shall determine most effective approach to reduce noise
4. The contractor shall evaluate and test the effects of damping materials on the DT-705 sensor assembly
5. The contractor shall evaluate the impact of potential changes on DT-705A overall performance
6. The contractor shall evaluate the impact of potential changes on DT-705A reliability
7. The contractor shall evaluate the impact of potential changes on DT-705A manufacturability
8. The contractor shall evaluate the impact of potential changes on DT-705A unit cost
5.0 DT-705A SENSOR ASSEMBLY NOISE MITIGATION RECOMMENDATION
The contractor shall document all of its findings as a result of the study outlined in section 4.0 and submit a report in accordance with
CDRL A001.
