STATEMENT OF WORK

1.0 BACKGROUND

The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) is a naval research activity operating under the direction of the Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). NUWCDIVNPT provides research, development, test and evaluation, engineering, analysis and assessment, as well as Fleet support capabilities for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive undersea weapon systems, and stewards existing and emerging technologies in support of undersea warfare.

2.0 SCOPE

The contractor shall conduct the five (5) day course entitled “Application and Interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)”. The contractor shall conduct the five (5) day course entitled “Review and Application of Extended Principles of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing”. The courses shall be conducted consecutively over a two week period between July 1 and August 30. The contractor shall provide an off-site location within ten miles of NUWCDIVNPT equipped to facilitate the training and provide any computer equipment and software necessary to teach the GD&T courses. A training certificate for each individual shall be delivered upon class completion.

3.0 REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Instruct Course “Application and Interpretation of GD&T”

The contractor shall conduct the five (5) day course entitled “Application and Interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)”. The contractor shall provide all required course materials for a maximum of twenty (20) attendees. The course objectives shall be to teach a uniform method of specifying GD&T on design drawings and to provide a common interpretation of GD&T to drawing users. The class shall explore design requirements and tolerances that allow economical manufacturing and inspection methods. Students learn that creating production drawings is a team effort between design, drafting, manufacturing, and quality control. The course shall cover (but is not limited to):

· Knowledge of GD&T to interpret and generate drawings

· ANSI Y14.5

· Screw Thread and Envelope Rules

· Axis and Center Plane Straightness Control

· Circularity, Cylindricity, and Conicity Control

· Datum Definition, Placement, Targets and Selection

· Parallelism, Perpendicularity, and Angularity Control

· Position and Fastener Theory

· Circular, Concentricity, and Total Runout Control

· Position tolerance of non-cylindrical features

· Symmetry

· Non-rigid parts

· Simultaneous requirements

· Virtual Condition Rule

3.2 Instruct Course “Review and Application of Extended Principles of GD&T”

The contractor shall conduct the five (5) day course entitled “Review and Application of Extended Principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)”. The contractor shall provide all required course materials for a maximum of twenty (20) attendees. Successful completion of the Application and Interpretation of GD&T is a prerequisite. This course shall cover (but is not limited to):

· Material Condition Modifiers

· Profile control

· Graphical Inspection Analysis (Paper Gaging)

· Functional Gaging

· Tolerance zone shapes (Fundamental and Derived zones)

· Tolerance distribution techniques (Fixed, Floating and Double Fixed Fasteners)

· Composite Position/Profile Control

· ASME Standards

· ASME/ISO Differences

· Review of ASME Y14.41-2003 Standard
