Rough - Level

3/8

Center the table under the spindle. Set the machine height using the (4) corner leveling screws to 3" above the floor. Turn each screw so they have equal tension.

Do not run down the center leveling screws. Install jam nuts [1] onto the leveling screws, but do not tighten down.

4/8

Place the level parallel to the Y axis [1] on the table and observe the bubble. If the bubble is centered, the table is level on this axis. If the bubble is off to the front of the level, it means that the front side of the machine is high. And, conversely, if the bubble is off to the rear, it means that the back side of the machine is high. Adjust the two front leveling screws until the level reads +/- 0.0005”.

Rotate the level head so that it is parallel to the X-axis [2]. Adjust the left or right side leveling screws until the level reads +/-0.0005.

Temporarily place the coolant tank under the machine in its correct location. If the machine is too low the tank will not fit in place. Remove the tank.

5/8

Fine - Level

Jog the Y Axis while checking for twist. Adjust leveling screws 2 and 4 until there is no twist accross the Y axis travel.

Lower the center leveling screws, 3 and 6, and apply light pressure. Rotate the level parallel to the Y Axis.

Check for roll. Use the center leveling screws, 3 and 6, to make corrections.

Note: VF-6 and larger frame machines will have more center leveling screws. Use the same principle to apply pressure on the center screws after the twist is removed. Verify the X to Z and Y to Z square with a granite or cylinder. VF-10/11/12 require the outriggers to be leveled in the next step.

Tighten the jam nuts on the leveling screws.

Outrigger - Leveling - VF 10/11/12

7/8

Place a level in the center of the table parallel to the X-axis. Jog the Y-axis back (toward the column) to max travel.

Jog the table to the right side over the rear outrigger leveling screw. DO NOT MOVE THE LEVEL. Tighten the leveling screw [1] onto the rear pad, which will raise the table and zero the level.

Jog the Y-Axis forward. Tighten the leveling screw onto the front pad [2], which will raise the table and zero the level.

Jog the Y-Axis to the rear and the table, X-Axis, to the left side of the machine. Tighten the leveling screw [3] onto the rear pad, which will raise the table and zero the level.

Jog the Y-Axis forward. Tighten the leveling screw onto the front pad [4], which will raise the table and zero the level.

Repeat this process until the level is the same when the table is on center, or at both ends of travel.

8/8

Screw the sheet metal support pads down to the floor.

Turn the screws an additional 1/4 turn once they have come in contact with the floor. Lock in place with the jam nut.
