1. INTRODUCTION

The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Corona Division, Command Infrastructure Division, Code 102 requires training on RSMeansOnline software.

2. BACKGROUND

The Infrastructure Division, Code 102 is requesting training for RSMeans software that our division uses to meet project requirements. The RSMeans software version that Code102 has license for is RSMeansOnline. RSMeans is the recognized construction cost estimating expert in the construction industry and training in this software essential to make efficient use of the software to meet project and mission requirements in a timely manner. The Infrastructure Division uses this software extensively during project cost estimation.

3. REQUIREMENTS

Code102 requires a 5-day training for the RSMeansOnline software on the topics below to learn how to prepare accurate and complete construction and renovation estimates, preventative and ongoing maintenance estimates, and accurate square foot estimates using limited budget and design information.

· Day 1 & 2 - RSMeans Facilities Construction Estimating will present standardized estimating and scheduling procedures to increase the reliability and accuracy of estimates, achieve a thorough understanding of RSMeans facilities cost data, improve communications and interpretations of information so “everyone speaks the same language” and to bring new staff members up-to-speed and enable the seasoned user to pick up new techniques and share their experience.

· Day 3 - Facilities Maintenance & Repair Estimating will cover how to use the Facilities Maintenance & Repair Costs Book to prepare budgets and estimates, how to prepare preventive maintenance budgets and plans for buildings & grounds and how to specify and cost out general maintenance programs.

· Day 4 - Mechanical & Electrical Estimating is training to learn how to prepare accurate estimates while understanding the composition and rationale in the mechanical/electrical data. Learn how the conceptual, planning, budgeting and bidding stages of M&E Estimating. Learn about order of magnitude, square foot, assemblies and unit price estimating. Understand comparative cost analysis of equipment and design alternatives.

· Day 5 - Square Foot & Assemblies Estimating attendees will learn how to get estimates done faster. Square foot estimates take advantage of the systems – or assemblies – format, using the basic idea that the many trades and small items involved in each portion of a building can be grouped together. Attendees will learn how to deliver accurate square foot estimates using limited budget and design information.

Code 102 has a requirement to train a minimum of 15 people for Code 102 and RS Department. NSWC Corona will provide the training room for this requirement.
