Description: CMAP software from Jeppesen-Boeing is interfaced within the GDIT/CSRA COVE trainers Instructor Operator Station. It provides a geographic and nautical chart top down situational representation of the operating area being used in the trainer. An example of this data is the charted depths, buoy locations, range lights, and navigation aides. This purchase is required to support PMS339 Conning Officer Virtual Environment (COVE) training system acquisitions for Mariners Skills Training Centers at San Diego, Norfolk and SWOS Newport, RI training sites.
UniqueCharacteristics: CMAP software mapping modules are used within the COVE software suite in order to display the chart of the operation area for the ships in the scenario. Using any other software would require significant software re-design and engineering and requiring the use another software on the prime contractor, CSRA/GDIT, would be cost prohibitive for this project. Therefore, the COVE IOS CMAP companion licenses must be purchased from Jeppesen-Boeing in order to maintain COVE Instructor Operator Station function currently designed and integrated into the system.
Explain: This is Proprietary COTS software used within another vendor's proprietary COTS software product. No other software product will adequately function within the existing trainer software without extensive testing and probable software changes.

This source is the only source that can provide the subscription license associated with the software currently in use by the COVE training system.

StatementOfActions: Market Research will be continually conducted to ascertain and identify alternative sources for future requirements.
