STATEMENT OF WORK

STATEMENT OF WORK

1. SCOPE: This statement of work covers the requirements for the design of a fire protection system to be installed in a fabricated enclosure used for painting and blasting.

2. BACKGROUND:

2.1. The facility is located outside the controlled industrial area (CIA) of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

2.2. The facility is known as the Code 970 “Learning Center” (LC) where training operations commence.

2.3. The facility is built using modular, stackable steel components called “SHT’s”. Each SHT module is 48’ long and 12’ wide. The internal of the SHT module is comprised of decking and stairwells. The SHT modules are used to form a facility with an internal working area.

2.4. The training area is composed of two stacks of two “SHT’s”, a roof, and pre-engineered wall ends to enclose the facility.

2.5. Utilities are connected into each area using temporary hoses and cables though manifolds and wall penetrations.

2.6. The LC does not currently have a fire alarm or fire suppression system.

2.7. There is fire alarm booth located adjacent to the LC to contact base Fire emergency response.

2.8. Two (2) rooms, within the LC, were fabricated around large mock-ups as shown in Attachment 1- Figure 6.1 and 6.2.

2.9. Mock-up are utilized to simulate painting and blasting in confined and/or constrained conditions.

2.10. The processes accomplished within the fabricated rooms are abrasive blasting and spray painting.
