Zeus Rescue Boat and Davit System Bidders Questions

Question 1:

Does the work boat shown on plate 7 at frames 43-45 indicate the new boat installation location or an existing boat? If the boat is to be located elsewhere a frame location would be helpful.

Answer 1:

The new rescue boat will be placed between frames 34 to 37 on the port side. That is just aft of the existing life raft inflatables and just forward of the lifeboat. The dimensions of that space are listed in the requirements list.

Question 2:

Is the ship available for a ship check?

Answer 2:

The ship will not be available for a ship check.

Question 3:

It appears that the new boat will go just forward of the existing motor life boat. If this is the correct location, then is appears that the General Requirements paras 2.5.1 and 2.5.3 may have the dimensions reversed. The longitudinal area is definitely greater than the transverse on the drawing, if I am looking at the right space (fr 34-37, from the fwd motor life boat davit arm forward to the double life rafts). It also appears that the transverse space available there is actually about 14ft. Can you get clarification on the space dimensions? If the fore-aft dimension is in fact "approximately 20 ft" can you find out how much margin that gives? Will a boat that is 20.8ft overall length meet the requirements?

Answer 3:

The boat will have 20 ft of longitudinal space. There is currently a 20 ft conex box in the space where it will be installed. 2.5 ft to the aft, there is a lifeboat davit. 4 ft fwd there is a life raft. A 20.8 ft boat would work if installation does not encroach too much on the available space. Also, there will be a new lifeboat davit install in place of the old davit. Its dimensions are not know yet so we would like to ensure that the boat does not get too close to the existing lifeboat davits. The transverse space available is 17.5 ft from the deck edge to the deckhouse bulkhead, not 36 ft. There are some items located on the bulkhead that may also interfere (see Attachments 6 and 7). There must be room left for passage across the deck between the boat and the bulkhead.

Question 4:

Is it possible to get a CAD drawing of the footprint area?

Answer 4:

CAD drawing is included in Amendment 0001 as Attachment 5.

Question 5:

If a CAD drawing is not available, can we get pictures of the mounting area?

Answer 5:

CAD drawing is included in Amendment 0001 as Attachment 5. Pictures are provided as Attachment 6 and Attachment 7.
