Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), intends to procure one (1) Leica TCS SP8 Spectral Confocal and MP System, or equal.
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items, prepared in accordance with format in FAR 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice and under the authority to use simplified procedures for commercial requirements as provided in FAR 13.5. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation and a separate written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation: No. N02CO62714-78 includes all applicable provisions and clauses in effect through FAR FAC 2005-89 (August 15, 2016).
The North American Industry Classification System code is 334516 and the business size standard is 1000 employees.
Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm fixed price type contract.
Description of Requirement The salient characteristics, or equivalent, for the Confocal and Multi-Photon Imaging System are:
1. To image lung and liver tissue, as well as exposed tumors, the system must be based on an automated inverted microscope with XY Scanning Stage and Z focusing via the microscope. nosepiece for whole animal imaging and a Z Galvo for live XZ scanning with tissue samples.
2. Whole animal imaging on an inverted microscope requires spill protection and automatic water dispenser for long term time-lapse imaging with water immersion objectives.
3. To protect non-descanned detectors from stray light the microscope must be enclosed in a light-tight, temperature-controlled laser safety box.
4. System must be provided with an air compressor and a black anti-reflective coated air table top for laser safety.
5. Microscope must include the following objectives:
a. For overview imaging - 5X Dry
b. For overview and confocal imaging - APO 10X Dry for UV and Visible excitation
c. For large area, high resolution confocal imaging - APO 20X Dry for UV and Visible excitation
d. For whole animal, deep tissue imaging on an inverted microscope platform - 25X/0.95 or better Water Imm coverslip corrected with at least 2.5 mm FWD and transmission from 400 nm to 1300 nm for Visible and MP/OPO excitation
e. For lung and liver tissue imaging at depths up to 640 microns – APO 40X/1.1 or better Water Imm with Correction Collar and transmission up to 1300 nm for Visible and MP/OPO excitation
6. To accommodate fixed tissue imaging and more static live events, the system must include a tunable speed galvanometer with scan speeds from 1 Hz to 1800 Hz (3600 bi-directional).
7. To accommodate imaging rapid, dynamic events in live animals with 3 fluorescent protein markers plus simultaneous SHG imaging, an 8000 Hz resonant scanner capable of 30 frames per second at 512 X 512 with 4 high sensitivity GaAsP NDD channels active simultaneously is required.
8. To facilitate the fastest possible acquisition with elongated structures, continuous scan-field rotation must be possible with both tunable speed and resonant scanners.
9. To achieve accurate spectral characterization, the confocal system must have uniform transmission efficiency from 400 nm to 800 nm.
10. Confocal imaging of fixed samples will require a system equipped with 405nm, 488nm and 552nm (or similar) solid state lasers for confocal imaging.
11. System must include 3 spectral confocal detectors (2 hybrid style GaAsP detectors and 1 PMT).
12. To facilitate imaging multiple fluorescent proteins and SHG in living animals, the system must include 4 hybrid style GaAsP non-descanned detectors for MP/OPO imaging (including filters for CFP, YFP, GFP, DsRed, mCherry, SHG 440 and empty for customization).
13. System must be equipped with dual MP beam routing for IR and OPO lasers (EOM included).
14. Imaging live animals with multiple fluorescent markers will require an MP system capable of controlling both wavelength and dispersion compensation within the operating software during acquisition.
15. System must include a PC Workstation with at least 31 inches for the monitor in order to best accommodate the multitude of display outputs, and say a graphics card with a Peak FP32 Performance of greater than 6 TFLOPS and memory band width greater than 300 GB/s.
Delivery: Contractor(s) shall deliver the item within 90 days after award to: NIH/NCI Bethesda, Maryland 20892. The Contractor that receives the award will be provided with the complete mailing address and point of contact. The contractor must notify the NCI Technical Point of Contact to schedule the delivery and installation date and time.
Installation: To be carried out by the manufacturer and shall occur within approximately one week of delivery.
Payment: Payment shall be made after delivery, installation and acceptance of the required equipment.
