1.1 Background
As the current sole producer of the JAU-8/A25 Initiator, NSWC IHEODTD is responsible for production, environmental / performance testing, and configuration management of this item.
The JAU-8/A25 Initiator is the primary initiator for the Air Crew Escape System (ACES) II ejection seat and is used in many United States Air Force (USAF) combat aircraft, including the F15, F-16, B-2, F-22, & A-10. NSWC IHEODTD also provides the JAU-8/A25 Initiator to multiple foreign allies that also fly any of these aircraft. The JAU-8/A25 Initiator is fired by a mechanical firing mechanism in a sequence of ignition series events, which as a result operates other Cartridge Actuated Device/Propellant Actuated Device (CAD/PAD) items in an ejection sequence.
1.2 Scope
This is an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract with a total period of performance of 60 months, including a base and four option periods. Required support shall be in accordance with specific, individually written delivery orders issued by NSWC IHEODTD within the general scope of this Statement of Work (SOW).
This SOW defines the requirements for the manufacture and delivery of JAU-8/A25 Initiator hardware components.
The Contractor shall fabricate, test, inspect and deliver JAU-8/A25 Initiator hardware components in accordance with specific, individually written delivery orders issued by NSWC IHEODTD within the general scope of this SOW.
