JAU-8 INITIATOR
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NSWC IHEODTD) requires support in the manufacture and delivery of hardware Components (GUIDE, SEAR, FIRING PIN, FLASH TUBE and RETAINER) for the JAU-8 Initiator.
1.1 Background
As the current sole producer of the JAU-8 initiator, the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NSWC IHEODTD) is responsible for production, environmental / performance testing, and configuration management of this item.
The JAU-8 is the primary initiator for the Air Crew Escape System (ACES) II ejection seat and is used in many United States Air Force (USAF) combat aircraft, including the F15, F-16, B-2, F-22, & A-10. The NSWC IHEODTD also provides the JAU-8 to multiple foreign allies that also fly any of these aircraft. The JAU-8 initiator is fired by a mechanical firing mechanism in a sequence of ignition series events, which as a result operates other Cartridge Actuated Device/Propellant Actuated Device (CAD/PAD) items in an ejection sequence.
1.2 Scope
This Statement of Work (SOW) defines the requirements for the manufacture and delivery of JAU-8 Initiator hardware components. These hardware components are required in response to urgent work orders received from various USAF customers.
The Contractor shall fabricate, test, inspect and deliver JAU-8 hardware components in accordance with the requirements of this SOW and all other specified requirements dictated in a contract award.
