Question: Once the asphalt has been removed, can we proof roll and test the gravel instead of the soil since the pad has to be raised to provide correct drainage?
Answer: The soil has to be 2000psf bearing pressure minimum.
Question: The period of performance is for 30 days. A digging permit usually takes 15 days to receive and soil testing results take 5 days which would leave us only 5 days (1 week) to complete the work. Would you reconsider the POP for a longer period of time?
Answer: The period of performance on the RFQ is only an estimate. No dig permit is required for this project and the soil analysis is not required as long as proper compaction is achieved.
Question: Is the existing 6’ x 6’ (approximate) concrete pad to be removed?
Answer: The existing concrete pad and asphalt will be removed.
Question: Is the proposed concrete pad to be at the same elevation as the top of existing curb? The drawing shows the pad being 2” to 4” above grade.
Answer: The new concrete pad elevation will be at the top of existing curb.
Question: Putting the pad at a higher elevation than the existing grade would help alleviate the ponding water issue, but would likely require more than 6” of stone to get the pad that high. Can you clarify the elevation of pad desired and the corresponding thickness of stone? Also, if the existing curb remains, then water may still flow to the building, around the new pad.
Answer: The existing curb will be removed and pad to be poured to elevation of the top of existing curb.
Question: Please confirm that a dig permit is required before work begins, and that no other permits are needed. What is the process/contact information to get the dig permit.
Answer: The dig permit is not required for this site.
Question: Please clarify regarding the soil analysis. What is the minimum required information? PE stamp, etc.
Answer: The notes on the drawing that I handed out were from a previous drawing, the correct drawing is attached. There is no soil analysis needed.
No additional questions will be taken for this RFQ.
