About this file
This is a letter agreement for independent contractor services between the University of Nebraska Athletic Department and James Kyhn for the position of Public Address Announcer for Nebraska Cornhusker home soccer matches. The agreement is effective August 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, and may be amended by mutual written agreement. Seth Dorsey, Deputy Athletic Director for Internal Operations/CFO, executes the agreement on behalf of the University.
Kyhn will be compensated at $115 per game for announcing home soccer matches, with payment due no later than 60 days following the end of each season. In addition to the per-game compensation, Kyhn will receive four complimentary soccer season tickets, which are subject to taxation. Kyhn is required to make best efforts to attend 100 percent of the home schedule and must reside within a 60-mile radius of the Husker home venue to comply with Big Ten Conference requirements. Additional voice-over, MC, or appearance work will be compensated at a reasonable rate mutually agreed upon by both parties. The agreement specifies that Kyhn must adhere to University of Nebraska, Big Ten Conference, and NCAA rules at all times, act professionally, work collaboratively with game management and marketing staff, and refrain from serving as a cheerleader. John Rouse serves as the marketing representative for soccer events. The University retains the right to terminate the agreement at any time and for any reason, and owns all recordings and video of Kyhn's work. Kyhn is classified as an independent contractor and is not eligible for University employee benefits.

Dear James, Thank you for agreeing to serve as the University of Nebraska Public Address Announcer for 2026 Nebraska Cornhusker home soccer matches.
The Public Address position for soccer pays $115 per game. You will be paid no later than 60 days following the end of each season. At every live event that you announce, an NU Athletic Department marketing representative will provide you the script and will serve as the University's representative in relation to your game-day activities. For Husker soccer matches, the marketing representative is John Rouse (402-257-7405).
In addition to the pay per game, you will also receive four (4) complimentary soccer season tickets for the season that you announce. Please note that you will be taxed accordingly for any complimentary tickets received.
By signing this agreement, you are agreeing to make best efforts to attend 100 percent of the home schedule. If for any reason you are unable to serve as the PA at a home event, please notify John Rouse (402-257-7405) or your marketing representative as soon as possible. Athletics will be responsible for replacement assignments. In the interest of making sure that our events are always staffed with trained Public Address Announcers, we are following the Big Ten Conference lead in mandating that all of our announcers live within a 60-mile radius of the Husker home venue.
In addition to this, for any other voice over/MC/appearance work that we ask you to do for the athletic department, you would also be paid a reasonable rate mutually agreed upon by both parties.
As the Public Address Announcer, you must adhere to Nebraska University, Big Ten Conference and NCAA rules at all times. As our PA announcer, we ask that you do the following:
• Be prepared, competent, act responsibly and work hand in hand with game management and marketing staff.
• Provide helpful and stimulating comment and information
• Remember you are an adjunct of the game and not an attraction.
• The Public Address Announcer should not be a 'cheerleader’; and you play an important role in the conduct of an intercollegiate athletic event.
• The Public Address Announcer is expected to act professionally at all times.
As the Husker Public Address voice, you may be offered opportunities to be the voice/spokesperson for commercial products and at non-University events and on non-University commercials. Please be aware at per NCAA rules, our athletic department is unable to accept advertising dollars from the following entities. If you have personal opportunities to promote similar products, please feel free to call me to discuss before committing.
• gambling/casinos
• beer, wine or hard liquor
• tobacco products
