About this file
This justification document supports a sole source acquisition by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a Smiths Detection HI-SCAN X-Ray system from Smiths Detection or an authorized reseller. The system is required to standardize security screening equipment across FBI facilities and will include installation, warranty, training, and software. The anticipated value is $XXXXXXX. The justification cites the FBI's existing use of over 482 Smiths Detection systems requiring standardized maintenance from the manufacturer. The solicitation will be posted on SAM.gov to allow authorized resellers to submit quotes with award to the lowest priced technically acceptable offer. The market research found that while Smiths Detection is the sole manufacturer, the system is commercially available from several authorized resellers.
