REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION #1

FCI MEMPHIS, TN

CONSTRUCT MULTI‐PURPOSE BUILDING

IFBP01111300001

1. Question: Please advise the nature of the 300 lbs concentrated load (roof live load) as referenced in specification section 011000, 1.4, B. 1. c. 2. Is this for roof mounted equipment or personnel access?

RESPONSE: The 300lb concentrated live load is to allow for a maintenance worker on the roof.

2. Question: As the Owner is performing all of the site preparation, underground utilities, and slab rough‐in, will the Notice to Proceed for the slab/building work be given after this preparatory work is complete, so as to not consume the 182 calendar days given for the building shell work?

RESPONSE: The Owner will start work prior to the Notice to Proceed, but will not be complete. The Owner’s work will continue while the Contractor procures the metal building and engineers the foundation. We expect that the building pad will be ready when the Contractor is ready to construct the foundation. The Contractor’s Construction Schedule, as required by Section 013200, 2.1.C, shall include separate line items for Owner work. Owner work that is not necessary for the Contractor to complete the Work of the contract may be delayed until after Substantial Completion. Our intent is that the Owner’s work will be scheduled according to the needs of the Contractor, with as little interference as possible.

3. Question: Please confirm that no local, state, or federal permits will be required.

RESPONSE: There will be no BUILDING permits required. However, there may be permits required to comply with local, state, or federal environmental regulations. Refer to Section 014100, 1.4 thru 1.6 for details.

4. Question: Since FCI Memphis is responsible for the foundation, will the current soil report dated in 1991 be used or will one of the parties have to pay for the soil testing.

RESPONSE: The Contractor is responsible for design and construction of the foundation. The Owner will prepare the building pad (Earthwork). The Contractor’s Structural Engineer shall design the foundation according to the recommendations indicated in Part IV of the Soil Report appended to Section 023000, unless the Contractor chooses to perform additional soil investigation at his own expense, and such investigation reveals more favorable soil conditions.
