All Inspections must be accomplished during normal business hours with the exception of City Hall and the Aurora Courts Building, so as not to interrupt normal business within City Hall or during Court Hearings.

Aurora Fire Department Acceptable Minimum Standards The Aurora Fire Department has the following minimum acceptable standards and shall be adhered to in all areas of the Fire Protection Systems.

1. General Alarm Monitoring Standards Facilities Operations currently holds a contract with Mountain Alarm for all fire alarm monitoring. Before proceeding with any fire inspection, the fire alarm technician shall work directly with Facilities staff to notify the monitoring agency of inspections being performed and when to restore monitoring service, as appropriate.

At the completion of each inspection, the contractor shall submit a detailed report within 5 business days to both Facilities Operations and Aurora Fire Department, refer to contact information for each Facilities Supervisor below. Failure to provide a report in a timely manner may result in the contractor being considered non-responsive and the contract terminated.

Fire Protection Preventive Maintenance Inspections A periodic inspection is required for each type of fire protection system and shall be scheduled 10 days in advance with the appropriate Facilities Supervisor prior to arriving on site. It’s preferable to pre-schedule with each supervisor all inspections by the end of the month prior to next month’s inspection. This will allow each Facilities Supervisor enough time to notify building users of the upcoming inspections. If an inspection must be rescheduled for any reason, a minimum of 10 days must be given to the supervisor so they can again confirm the new date with the building users.

After each periodic inspection is complete, a written report shall be provided to Facilities Operations General Mailbox within 5 business days after the inspection is complete. Deficiency that do not meet current NFPA requirements should be noted and included within each inspection report.
