AMENDMENT 002
The below responses are provided to all interested vendors questions obtained from the RFP teleconference held on 4 Apr 17.
Question 1: Reference Attachment 1, Room Dimensions- Page 2, is the Government willing to make modifications to full size hood?
Government Response: Yes. Refer to Amendment 001 Revised Performance Work Statement.
Question 2: Is the hood depth indicated in diagram the limit?
Government Response: Yes. 20 cm line is hard line requirement due to Government’s safety and hood certification requirements.
Question 3: Reference the main part of the system in Attachment 1, is 144” horizontally from end of the wall and is 94” the distance from the front of the hood for use?
Government Response: Everything shall fit into 144”. The usable space depth measurement of the hood is 37”.
Question 4: Is the maximum width of the hood 88” or 94”?
Government Response: Refer to response to Question 3.
Question 5: Is the system accessible from all sides or is there a wall?
Government Response: System is against a wall.
Question 6: On 2d page, is the wall on the top side of the page?
Government Response: Yes.
Question 7: Can the system be expanded from the wall beyond the 94”?
Government Response: 94” is the limit due to safety regulations.
Question 8: Can existing hood be moved from the wall.
Government Response: No.
Question 9: Where are the electronic rack(s) to be placed?
Government Response: Ideally in the main chamber footprint; but, the Government may work around the placement.
Question 10: Can CAD drawings be made available during the design phase.
Government Response: Yes.
Question 11: Should gas system be placed inside the hood?

AMENDMENT 002
Question 13: Will pumping system connect to lab exhaust system?
Government Response: Four (4)-line pumps inside the hood; no exhaust system
Question 14: Any installation issues for connection to exhaust system?
Government Response: No.
Question 15: Is there any requirement for pumps to be corrosion-resistance?
Government Response: Not required. However, avoid any oil pumps; dry pumps are preferred.
Question 16: How will maintenance be handled?
Government Response: Government typically does maintenance; so, request minimum amount of maintenance. All vendors are to submit system warranties with proposal submissions.
Question 17: What is the preference of view ports?
Government Response: Extra ports are preferred.
Question 18: What is the total ceiling height?
Government Response: 122” total ceiling height.
Question 19: Are there any restrictions for floor loads, door sizes, elevator, and/or any access points to the building?
Government Response: The floor is designed to handle 4,000 psi. There are two different ways to access the laboratory. Access way 1 (loading dock): There is a lift to facilitate freight deliveries with a limit of 5,000 pounds; and access points are limited to 84” height and 62” width. Access way 2 is through the double doors in the back of the laboratory at ground level. The door clearance is 67” height x 67” width; which is accessible from a 48” wide concrete sidewalk to the exterior of the building. There is a 3” step down from the door threshold to the laboratory floor; but use of a forklift should prevent this from being a problem. Access way 2 is preferred if we can move the equipment in the lab within a couple of hours; but this would require coordination with our security office. The government can provide a pallet jack (5,000 pound limit) and a battery powdered forklift to facilitate equipment movement into the laboratory.
