Rodent Blanket Purchase Agreement

This amendment #1 is provided to update the Statement of Work and answer questions received from interested vendors. In order to be considered for award, please acknowledge amendment #1 in your quote submission.

All other terms and conditions remain the same.

Statement of Work:

The Statement of Work for HU0001-15-Q-E012 has been updated to include a requirement that all deliveries must test negative for Pseudomonas aeruginosa by PCR or culture within one week prior to shipment.

Additionally, the liquidated damages statement has been modified to provide clarity on the

Statement of Work. The new language included states that if a vendor knowingly fails to follow the requirements provided in the Statement of Work or withholds critical health information concerning the vendors supply colonies that causes damage to the ordering investigator or other existing AFRRI rodent colonies, the contractor may, in place of actual damages, pay the

Government liquidated damages. The value of the liquidated damages will be calculated based on the cost to purchase replacement animals from another provider, to include shipping and handling, and any grant funds lost due to the nonconforming animals.

Questions:

1. Please provide additional information, and/or nomenclature, on the mouse line identified as “C57L”.

Answer: The C57L (also known as C57L/J; Leaden; C57 Leaden) is a mutant inbred strain of mouse that is widely used in research as a general purpose strain and is provided by the Jackson Laboratory. In radiation, it is an alternate model used to study lung injury related to radiation exposure.

2. Please define the age expectations. Specifically is 6-7 weeks intended to be animals born over a 7 day period or a 14 day period. Similarly, for animals listed as 6-8 weeks of age, are these expected to be born over a 14 day or a 21 day period?

Answers: The variability in age allows for some flexibility if the animals arrive late or are delayed. This ensures that the animals still fall within the respective timeframe required by the protocol.
