Replace Medium Voltage Transformers
Project # 4533560
HSCGG1-12-B-PCGAXF
1. Clarify the voltage intent on the secondary of this transformer as per the detail all connections go to a common buss-duct/piece of switchgear. We have no information on the second secondary termination point?
Note #1 refers to dual voltage primary(13.2/4.16kv) and a dual voltage secondary (120/208 and 277/480volt this note contradict what is shown in the pictures and in Note #3 which says/shows termination to (1) piece of 3000 amp gear in the next room. Is this a typo? Where does the other secondary attach?
RESPONSE: This transformer is for Chase C where mid-life renovations are planned for the future.
During the renovations to other Chase Hall Annexes (currently A & B) the main distribution for the building is being changed from 208V to 480V. Currently Chase C is operating on 208V and will continue to do so until the renovations begin in four or five years or longer. The Academy will be upgrading the main distribution voltage within the next several years, so in an effort to plan for future upgrades, a dual tap primary voltage (Academy wide upgrade) with dual tap voltage secondary (for mid-life upgrade) transformer is needed.
For this project the 208V tap on the secondary is to be connected to the bus in the main switchgear.
2. Please clarify the style of termination at the existing G&W switch.
RESPONSE: 200A elsti-mold elbows. (see drawing E106, Note 2)
3. Please clarify if any of the existing G%W switches are under factory notification to not de-energize under load.
RESPONSE: There are currently no restrictions for operating the G&W switches under load. Most of the G&W switches (one Canadian Power Switch, also SF6, in Satterlee Hall) are SF6 gas switches that have been installed within the last five years.
