Buffered Radar Switch Specifics Requirements

C3CEN CT-C1 requires a Buffered Radar Switch. The buffered radar switch shall connect two AN/SPS-50 surface search radars into the switch and allow the selection of a single radar source out of the switch passing signals to the SeaWatch Command and Control system for further radar processing.

1. This Buffered Radar Switch shall accept and output the following radar signals:

a) Azimuth Change Pulse (ACP) or also known as Bearing Pulse (BP)

b) Azimuth Reset Pulse (ARP) or also known as Heading Pulse (HP)

c) Video

d) Trigger.

2. Each of the Radar signals required at the input/output consists of:

a) ACP/BP (0 to + 12VDC)

b) ARP/HD

c) Trigger (0 to +12VDC)

d) Video (0 to -5VDC w/ 75 ohm load).

3. It is imperative that the Radar signals coming into the switch be buffered when sent to the output port. Mechanical connect/disconnect contacts will not be acceptable.

4. This switch will need to be mounted in a 19" equipment rack and be no more than 1 Rack Unit (RU) in height.

5. The Buffered Radar Switch enclosure shall be:

a) Functionally comparable to the dimension as show in the file titled “Radar_Switch_FPRP.pdf”.

b) The Buffered Radar Switch shall be less than 16 inches in depth.

c) The electronic components will be adequately protected yet accessible. The model depicted is a completely enclosed metal box with the top panel secured with Phillip head screws to allow access for troubleshooting.

d) The surface coating shall be suitable for purpose in a military maritime environment complete with all necessary functional connection and with clear and complete functional markings including all illustrated functions. In the depicted model.

e) There is a grounding lug on the rear of the enclosure.

f) Silk Coated lettering for the front panel (see above file):

a. Radar 1 next to the top Green LED

b. Radar 2 next to the bottom Green LED

c. Radar Selector next to the switch

d. Company Name

e. Part Number

f. Serial Number

g. Power next to the Red Power LED

h. GND next to the grounding lug.

n. A Black line around J5 and J6 connections with the work Output centered above the box.

o. Radar above the DB9 connector and J5 below it.

p. Video above the BNC connector and J6 below it.

6. Circuit card specifics:

a) Components shall be labeled on the card with their circuit designation.

b) Components shall be soldered into place.

c) Shall be mounted on standoffs to keep contact off the metal enclosure.

7. Power:

a) Three pronged power cable.

b) 3 to 6 feet in length.

c) 115 VAC

d) 60 HZ

e) Maximum of 5 amperes.
