Peak period duty cycle: Continuous 24 hours per day for 14 days (336 hours)O=T
2.2Able to alternate conveyor modesConduct continuous conveyor movement/scanning and user able to alternate between forward and reverse modesO=T
2.3Able to expedite conveyance inspectionConveyor speed equal to or greater than 38 feet/min (11.58 m/min)O=T
2.4Able to meet or exceed inspection requirements for transmission- based images (ANSI N42.46-2008)Penetrates at least 45mm (1 49/64 inch) of steel, achieves Wire Detection equivalent to 36 American Wire Gage (0.005 inches / 0.127mm diameter), and a Contrast Sensitivity of 5% at 50% of maximum PenetrationO=T
2.5Able to enhance imagesUser able to magnify image (2x to 8x); Select different color palettes; Reverse polarity of image contrast; Optimize the image’s contrast and brightness; Sharpen the image; lock image enhancements; Organic and Inorganic stripping; High Penetration; Provide variable contrast/enhancement function to enable great visibility of dense objects and to show greater detail on less dense objects..O=T
2.6Able to discriminate between organic (low Z) materials and metallic (high Z) materials and relative thicknessGenerates images with material discrimination by color-coding the material categories as follows: organic (orange), intermediate (green) and metallic (blue). Shades of these colors are to be used to indicate thickness.

Jeffrey Doyle: Jeffrey Doyle:

This color scheme is utilized by the industry to classify the density of the materials passing through the x-ray system.O=T
2.7Able to display radiographic images at 256 gray levels.Displays radiographic images at 256 gray levels.O=T
2.8Able to capture system usage / total number of scanned itemsAutomatically counts the number of scans conducted, with ability reset the count to zero at time of site acceptance testingO=T
2.9Able to store scan imagesLocally stores 30,000 scans per system (archive) with easy access to review previous 50 imagesO=T
2.10Able to export scan images to various file formatsExports scan images in .tif, .jpg, or .png file formatsO=T
2.11Able to export stored files, records, and scan imagesCopies locally stored files, records, and scan images to government owned removable media storage devices: encrypted flash and hard drives.O=T
2.12Able to archive user selected records that are threat images.Archive user selected records that are marked as threat images and route to a separate folder if suspect block is checked.O=T
2.13Able to archive user selected records, which will be protected from overwrite or auto-delete featuresArchives user selected records that are protected from overwrite or auto-delete features-Image archiving and transfer via CBP approved encrypted USB deviceO=T
2.14Able to perform automated data overwrite functionsProvides automated storage capacity warnings at 85% system storage limits and begins auto-overwriting oldest records once data storage has reached 90% capacity, not including records that have been archived by the usersO=T
3Design Requirements
3.1Have imaging system technology that does not rely on radioactive isotopesSystem is based on X-Ray technologyO=T
3.2Have acceptable dose rates levels for public safety and cabinet x-ray systemsDose rates are less than 0.5 mR/hour at 50 mm from the cabinet surface (shall fully comply with all current and any new applicable federal health and safety regulations, including 21 CFR 1020.40.O=T
3.3Have safety features (interlocks (access panel and operational), indicators and controls, auto termination, and labeling) as required by 21 CFR 1020.40 and 10 CFR 20.1601 and 1602 and safety panelsMeets 21 CFR 1020.40 and 10 CFR 20.1601 and 1602 regulation requirements;

Safety Interlocks cannot be disabled or overridden by an operator for any reason;

“Emergency Stop” switches/buttons at each tunnel opening and on operator’s workstation;

Safety panels to safeguard passengers from hazards, such as moving parts, pinch points, and potential radiation.O=T
3.4Have ancillary conveyor equipment (e.g. roller tables)Conveyor system is located near ground-level and accompanied with roller or motorized conveyors the same width of the pallet scanner conveyor belt at the entrance and exit of the system and able to slide soft-sided baggage, wooden crates and pallets, and other cargo types over the surface area with minimal effortO=T
3.5User Tracking - Each scan shall be tagged with the User’s name and that name shall be displayed with the data set.Each scan is tagged with the user's name and displayed with the data set.O=T
3.6Have an operator’s station accompanying each scanning systemEach operator station includes a desk, chair, required computer with an approved Operating System (see Technology Reference Module), 2x 24" high-resolution monitors with adjustable viewing angles, mouse, imaging software, system controls, user accessible multiple USB ports to simultaneously enable the downloading of images via an encrypted data storage device (i.e. iron key) and to utilize an external keyboard (as needed).
An option should be provided for the operator's station to be an "Adjustable Stand-up Desk" which is able to accommodate all the" required equipment" captured above.O=T
