Version 11-30-2016-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs
PURCHASE DESCRIPTION
1. Statement of Need and Purpose:
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Division of
Preclinical Innovation (DPI) requires two chemical libraries, one containing 408 compounds for our Clinical Stage compound library and one containing 48 compounds for our NCATS Pharmaceutical Collection (NPC) medically relevant, novel small molecules to be included in small molecule collection. NPC and CSC aim to broadly cover all biological mechanisms known in literature or patents and provides information access for NCATS investigators to accelerate their research. These 456 particular molecules are required at this time and high purity of molecules is imperative. This vendor has worked to compile these exact collections that we require and will handle proper packaging and shipping requirements for all involved.
2. Background Information and Objective:
The NCGC (NCATS Chemical Genomics Center) is tasked with identifying and developing novel small molecule leads against a wide spectrum of human disease targets, which it accomplishes by screening thousands of small molecules in collaboration with both intra-and extramural researchers. In pursuit of this goal, the
Cente"r has a strong internal team of biologists who plan experiments, optimize assays, and perform high-throughput screens - a crucial capability for these sorts of studies is a comprehensive and easily accessible inventory system for tracking the thousands of cell lines that are received and used here at NCATS.
3. Generic Name of Product: Compound Libraries
4. Purchase Description:
One (1) Clinical Stage Compounds Library
One (1) NPC Approved Drugs Library
Salient characteristics:
(See attached Excel files for a complete list of needed compounds) Specifically, the NCATS DPI requires the following:
Version 11-30-2016-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs
a. The Contractor must be able to provide the NCATS DPI with ALL of the small molecules listed in the attached Excel documents titled “Required Small Molecules List”, in the exact units of measure shown on these lists.
b. PLEASE NOTE: Molecules shall be provided to the NCATS in tared barcoded vials that shall be provided to the successful Contractor by NCATS at time of award.
c. In addition to the molecules themselves, the Contractor must be able to provide the following electronic information for each required molecule: chemical structure, compound name, molecular weight, simplified molecular-input line-entry system
(SMILES) or equivalent chemical structure information, accurate weight of amount of compound shipped. This information shall be provided via email referencing individual compound vial barcodes.
d. The contractor must provide for shipping and handling to send small molecules in the provided vials to the NCATS.
5. Quantity: 2 complete libraries
6. Delivery Date:
Compounds and associated information must be delivered within two (2) months following Contractor receipt of the barcoded vials provided by NCATS. Delivery of compounds and associated information shall be made to 9800 Medical Center Drive, Rockville, Maryland 20850, Attn: Mr. Paul Shinn. A firm fixed price purchase order is anticipated.
