Version 11-30-2016-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs

PURCHASE DESCRIPTION

1. Statement of Need and Purpose: The purpose of this requirement is to obtain a high channel count electrophysiology recording and stimulation system.

2. Background Information and Objective: The Laboratory of Neuropsychology investigates primate higher brain functions such as explicit and implicit face processing, memory, and reward. We will be working on a study that seeks to study causal relationships between visual brain areas and visual perception. This work in nonhuman primates requires a high channel count electrophysiology recording and stimulation system. This is the first acquisition of a combined stimulation and recording system with over 128 channels. This purchase will provide essential components to advance scientific understanding of primate visual perception.

3. Generic Name of Product: High channel count electrophysiology recording and stimulation system.

4. Purchase Description: 1 System with: R0200 Grapevine Nomad processor (2), R02010 Analog+Digital IO (2), R01128 Single I/O Cable (Micro-D) (2), R01129 Double I/O Cable (Micro-D) (1), R02001 Nano2 – 32ch Recording FE (27), R02003 Nano2+Stim

– 32ch Stim & Record FE (4), R03014 Onanon Quad Circular Front End Cable (6), R03013 Onanon Triple Circular Front End Cable (2), R03011 Onanon Single Circular Front End Cable (1), R01610 Cable Saver Adapter (4), Shipping.

5. Salient characteristics

• At least 864 single unit and field potential recording channels, more (up to 1024) preferred.

• Continuous recording of waveform snippets at full channel capacity

• Supports automatic channel thresholding

• At least 96 combined recording and electrical stimulation channels, 128 preferred.

• At least 3 independent stimulation sources to allow rapid interleaving of stimulation from electrode-to-electrode. More independent channels preferred.

• Recording characteristics equal to or better than Intan Technologies RHD2132 head stage (RHD2000-based circuit).

• Rapid recovery of recording following electrode stimulation.

• Minimum stimulation current range +/- 200 microamperes, 5 volts of compliance.

+/- 500 microamperes or greater preferred.

• Stimulation patterning and with external triggering

• Minimum 8 separate analog input channels, minimum 14-bit resolution, at least 2 kHz sample rate. Up to 32 channels preferred. 16-bit resolution preferred.
