PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Naval Special Warfare Advanced Training Command (NSW ATC)

Wrestling Mats

1. BACKGROUND

1.1. NSW ATC requires wrestling mat(s) to support training. Due to the daily sustainment training and high number of NSW personnel training wrestling mat(s) are necessary with sufficient shock absorption to prevent injury to operators. The wrestling mat(s) will be used multiple times a day as an added layer of safety prevention.

2. OBJECTIVE

2.1. NSWATC DET Coronado Combatives Cell (N33T) requires wrestling mats to be used in the Combatives space as and added layer of operator safety. The new mats will lay over top of the existing mats, providing an added layer of shock absorbing support to prevent knee, shoulder, and head injuries during daily training.

2.2. The wrestling mat(s) shall be specifically designed to absorb and cushion the impacts that happen under normal wrestling conditions. In the interest of safety, The American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) International has established specifications for competition wrestling mats. These guidelines test the construction and durability of mats that pass for shock absorbing properties. A wrestling mat of this type will ensure the safety of NSW personnel training daily.
