PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Naval Special Warfare Advanced Training Command (NSW ATC)

Wrestling Mats

1. BACKGROUND

1.1. NSW ATC requires wrestling mat(s) to support training. Due to the daily sustainment training and high number of NSW personnel training wrestling mat(s) are necessary with sufficient shock absorption to prevent injury to operators. The wrestling mat(s) will be used multiple times a day as an added layer of safety prevention.

2. OBJECTIVE

2.1. NSWATC DET Coronado Combatives Cell (N33T) requires wrestling mats to be used in the Combatives space as and added layer of operator safety. The new mats will lay over top of the existing mats, providing an added layer of shock absorbing support to prevent knee, shoulder, and head injuries during daily training.

2.2. The wrestling mat(s) shall be specifically designed to absorb and cushion the impacts that happen under normal wrestling conditions. In the interest of safety, The American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) International has established specifications for competition wrestling mats. These guidelines test the construction and durability of mats that pass for shock absorbing properties. A wrestling mat of this type will ensure the safety of NSW personnel training daily.

3. DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT

3.1. Brand Name or Equal: Resilite, Classic Wrestling Mat(s) – Custom fit

3.2. The wrestling mat(s) shall be a total of approximately 3,576 square feet, designed to lay flat and seamless next to each other.

98A(2002)e1 “Test Methods for Vulcanized Rubber and Thermoplastic Elastomers-Tension.”

• The Wrestling Mat(s) shall be tested by an independent laboratory in accordance with “Standard Specification for Competition Wrestling Mats.”

o The foam core shall have received a PASS rating of (<) 100 maximum G-max when tested in accordance with “Test Method for Shock Absorbing Properties of Playing Surface Systems and Materials.

o Mats that do not receive an average G-max range below 100 G-max are not acceptable.

o To further determine the mats ability to impact absorption the Wrestling Mat shall be tested for impact protection using an Electronic Impact Surface Tester such as the Triax 200, in accordance with

ASTM F-1292-04.
