Start Up Verification of proper installation of equipment per manufacturer requirements. A load shall be applied for a 2-hour, full load test. Filling and catalog in all factory warranty documents for the equipment.

Level 1 Maintenance Level 1 Maintenance is the foundation for our Preventive Maintenance Program. Though considered to be an Inspection; this level of maintenance is where we ascertain the readiness of the Emergency Power Supply System (EPSS) and identify problems or potential failures. This is accomplished by inspecting and testing the subsystems of the EPSS utilizing our Preventive Maintenance Check List also referred to as our Field Service Report. In addition to our check list, the system is also inspected and tested in accordance with specific Manufacturer requirements.

Level 2 Maintenance Level 2 Maintenance is the next higher level of Preventive Maintenance. This level of preventive maintenance begins with the accomplishment of Level 1 Maintenance Actions. The Level 2 Maintenance is differentiated from the Level 1 Maintenance by adding the following actions: 1) Collecting an Engine Oil/Fuel Sample and sending it to the Lab for analysis, 2) Draining the existing oil from the unit and refilling it with new oil, 3) Removing the existing oil filters and replacing them with new filters, 4) Removing the existing fuel filters and replacing them with new filters, and 5) Removing the existing coolant filters and replacing them with new filters.

Level 3 Maintenance Level 3 Maintenance addresses the common high failure items associated with the starting and cooling systems and recommended to be performed every 3 years. Its intent is to prevent potential failure of the EPSS through predicable preventive maintenance actions. The Level 3 Maintenance is accomplished in conjunction with Level 1 & 2 Maintenance actions and includes the following additional actions: 1) Draining, flushing and refilling the cooling system with new coolant, 2) Replacing the water temperature regulators, 3) Replacing the radiator cap, 4) Pressure washing the radiator outer core, 5) Replacing all rubber hoses in the cooling system to include the upper and lower radiator hoses, water pump by-pass hoses, vent hoses, jacket water heater hoses, etc., 6) Replacing all fan/alternator drive belts, 7) Replacing the rubber fuel supply and return hoses, 8) Replacing the engine starting batteries if needed, 9) Replacing the battery terminal connectors, and 10) Checking and adjusting the engine overload.

Load Testing A load shall be applied for a 2-hour, full load test. Per NFPA110-7.13.6. The building load shall be permitted to serve as part or all of the load, supplemented by a load bank of sufficient size to provide a load equal to 100 percent of the nameplate kW rating of the EPSS, less applicable de-rating factors for site conditions.
