Minimum Specifications – Hydraulic Actuators

1.0 SCOPE

These Minimum Specifications establish the requirements for the procurement of hydraulic actuators for the Structural Evaluation laboratory, which provides ultimate strength and fatigue testing capabilities for Naval Ship Components or Models with customizable configurations.

2.0 MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Over a five (5) year period, all required actuator assemblies and additional spare equipment shall be purchased. The equipment can be broken down into three groups: 50kip actuators, 100kip actuators, and spares. Each actuator shall be purchased fully assembled with all components and requested additional hardware attached. A diagram showing all components expected in the load train is included in Section 9.0.

The actuators and equipment shall meet the following list of minimum requirements:

2.1 General (All components, as applicable):

i. Usable stroke: 18in ± 2in

ii. Rod/Piston Material: Stainless Steel with a minimum Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) of 15

iii. Matched capacity swivel base and rod ends with tilt of ±5° minimum and rotation of ±60° minimum from the vertical position

iv. Wrench flats included on actuator Rod

v. Any required clevis pins shall be chrome plated with snap rings

vi. Field serviceable rod seals

vii. All threaded ports must be JIC, can accommodate sizes 12 - 20

viii. Fatigue rated, 3,000 psi operating pressure, 5,000 psi proof pressure
