2. DESCRIPTION OF SUPPLIES & SERVICES

2.1. The FDA/Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutirtion (CFSAN) requires a PR2 1800 system which performs immunoassays using electrochemiluminescent (ECL) detection, for use in the select agent laboratory. This ECL detection platform uses reporter molecules, such as ruthenium (II) trisbipyridal [Ru(bpy)32+] attached to biological conjugates (e.g., antibodies) for various biothreat agents. These reporter molecules undergo electron-transfer reactions when stimulated by an electrode and emit light. PR2 1800 system, with its improved ECL signaling technology, provides more sensitive detection at very low concentration and has a wider dynamic range than standard fluorescence or colorimetric ELISAs. This fully automated and proven technological platform and kits are available for several biothreat agents including Botulinum Toxin, A, B and E.
