STATEMENT OF CONDUCT FOR MQSA INSPECTORS

(November 2013)

Exemplary behavior and professionalism are fundamental to the credibility of the MQSA program and its inspectors. For these reasons, MQSA-certified inspectors are expected to execute their duties and responsibilities in a manner which is proficient as well as professional. Inspectors should avoid any behavior or conduct which would adversely reflect upon the MQSA program, FDA, or the State program with which they are affiliated.

In the course of their duties, MQSA inspectors are expected to exhibit integrity, to avoid conflict of interest or the appearance of a conflict of interest, to demonstrate continued proficiency, and to obtain the necessary continuing education to be knowledgeable about recent developments in mammography.

Note: MQSA Inspectors should avoid any appearance of loss of impartiality in the performance of their inspectional duties. Whenever possible an inspector should recuse themselves from inspecting any facility that employs a member of the inspector’s immediate family or any facility that the inspector has a financial interest in.

When the appearance of impartiality cannot be avoided, due to staffing limitations, or other problems, the contractor will notify the FDA Region or District Office of the inability to avoid the conflict of interest prior to the start of the inspection.
